> Criticizes Obama’s betrayal of progressive policies.
Random person > “I’m not calling Republicans and Conservatives ignorant fucks, I’m calling those who refuse to believe Obama is a better President than his predecessor and will be a better President than ANY candidate the GOP spits out this year.”
Better on what metric?
Worse than Bush. I have to say that. I actually voted for Obama. It’s all rhetoric for me now. As Americans we were hoodwinked. He’s expanding the secrecy regime far beyond what the Bush even intended, interestingly enough. I think Bush is probably like, “Whoa.”
NSA whistle-blower: Obama “worse than Bush”
In a speech at Northwestern University yesterday, Attorney General Eric Holder provided the most detailed explanation yet for why the Obama administration believes it has the authority to secretly target U.S. citizens for execution by the CIA without even charging them with a crime, notifying them of the accusations, or affording them an opportunity to respond, instead condemning them to death without a shred of transparency or judicial oversight.
Attorney General Holder defends execution without charges
…and everyone blames Bush and the Republicans without looking how their own side, which is supposably “progressive” caves in and sells out every chance it has. Even Bush’s counter-terrorism policies didn’t go this far. Obama is a more charismatic face of corporatist imperialism than Bush and the Republicans, so “liberals” don’t criticize him.
The selling out of liberalism and progressive values alarms me far more than the Republican party does, at least they’re being honest with their own positions. Democrats just shame the other side without recognizing them they, themselves, have been had. Obama took in more campaign contributions from Wall Street than any other president in history, and they have had an amazing return for their investment. Not one person involved in the criminal activities on Wall Street, that has caused the greatest economic crisis and greatest economic disparity since the 1920’s, has been prosecuted.
Did Obama deliver “hope” and “change” in any sense of those words? No. Even his “healthcare reform” bill was essentially a bailout to for-profit health insurance companies, and leaves millions without essential healthcare. We are the only country in the industrialized world without free universal healthcare coverage. Obama didn’t even address that.
Supposed “liberals”: look at yourself in the mirror. Are you really doing anything to oppose the two-party duopoly that has, through their complacency, brought us to the disastrous state we are today? The excuses of threatening the duopoly being a ‘spoiler’ is running thin - at this point, people who vote Obama are just perpetuating the perverse status quo.
