If you can’t explain an idea in layman’s terms, then you don’t really understand it all.

Yes, vocabulary has its practical uses within any discipline but if you’re unable to sit down and explain a concept and all it’s related vocabulary and such in understandable terms to a reasonably intelligent person outside of your field, then you’re just regurgitating what you’ve heard. A fucking parrot can do that, I want to know that people actually understand what they’re saying.
